Why Allow Members to Post Feedback about Transactions?

AudioWeb is an ongoing experiment in providing the best possible WWW marketplace venue for it's members. One of the biggest objections to person to person electronic commerce has been that it is to easy for people to remain anonymous when conducting business with others. The person on the other side of the transaction can often be literally just an email address that you know nothing else about.

We decided to tackle this problem head on by providing members with the abiliy to:

• Share contact information with other members.
• Develop an AudioWeb Reputation based on an accumulating collection of Member Feedback. AudioWeb members posting brief descriptions of their experiences transacting business with each other. This feedback is in turn cast into a Member Rating that at a glance allows members to see their reputations relative to each other. As time passes, Members with the best reputations (highest rating and most consistently positive feedback) should have the easiest time getting other members to deal with them. One the other hand, the lower a person's rating and the more negative their feedback, the less likely other members will be to do business with them. At worst, if a member hits a (-4) rating, they automatically lose their membership.

  We hope the end result of all this is that AudioWeb becomes a progressively safer and more efficient place to transact business.

What is Member Feedback

Members can post short comments describing their experiences transacting business with another member in the AudioWeb Marketplace. This feedback collects indefinitely until the person cancels their membership. Once posted, feedback cannot be edited or deleted by anyone including: the author and AudioWeb. Over time accumulating feedback should provide an increasingly helpful portrait of what can be expected when doing business with particular members.

Feedback Rules:

• Only registered AudioWeb members can post feedback.
• Feedback you post can only be about the outcomes of an Audioweb Marketplace (classified ads or auctions) transactions that you were either the buyer or the seller for. No exceptions.
• You cannot post feedback about yourself.
• Feedback once posted cannot be edited or deleted. If you change your mind about something you posted, post a retraction.
• Stick to the facts. Refrain from personal attacks. Obscenities and insults are not permitted.
• Feedback cannot be reproduced or used for any purpose outside of AudioWeb. For more information, read our Privacy Policy which all AudioWeb Member have agreed to abide by.
• Don't flame people with feedback. Resistance will be futile Your account will be terminated.
• Feedback by and about a member will be deleted when that person's membership is canceled.

What is a Member MarketPlace Rating?

As a new member, you start out with a membership rating of zero (0). Other AudioWeb members can add or subtract one point from your rating when they post feedback about experiences they have had transacting business with you. Part of posting feedback is indicating whether it is: Positive (+1), Negative (-1), or neutral (0) Your Member Rating is the sum of all the + 1 and - 1 ratings other members have assigned to you.

Any given AudioWeb member can only affect your Member rating by 1 point up or down.

Example: Member A's Rating is 5. Member B completes a successful transaction with Member A and sets his Rating point for Member A to +1. Now Member A's Rating is 6. Going forward Member B can only set his personal rating point for Member A to +1. He can not add additional points to it. Therefore Member B can only have a plus 1 point or minus 1 point net effect on Member A's Rating. Member B can however write unlimited feedback about Member A. See below.

Rules concerning Member MarketPlace Ratings

• Only registered AudioWeb members can rate each other.
• Since you cannot post feedback about yourself you cannot rate yourself.
• You can change your ratings for others at anytime by posting a feedback comment that negates the rating of your last feedback about that member.
• Member Ratings can only be seen by other members.
